Pictures of Calgary

Calgary Photographer

Cody James

I had SIX days with lots of free time, I ended up working most of them away, but I was able to grab a few shots in between a trip to the airport. I started near the reservoir, I wanted to see if there was a good angle with the water and the city in the background, it didn’t turn out well, got my dog out for a quick rip to see a few spots and then we jetted back to the car to try something new.

First legit spot we stopped was on bow trail looking into the downtown core along the new west LRT line.

Check out some more of my work of our beautiful city Calgary

Some of my best selling/most used photos are of this beautiful city, you’d think I’d capitalize on that, but the excitement isn’t there like it is when traveling or chasing a storm. The photo on the right here was captured for a client that needed a series of images featuring the city of Calgary as well as the mountains, they were used for advertising/promotions for a huge conference being held in Calgary. Many times I’ve caught my pictures of Calgary being used without permission as well, a big reason why my site carries watermarks on all photos for the last 3-4 years, it just became too much of a hassle to track infringers down.

This next series in this blog ‘ Pictures of Calgary ‘ #2 features a shot that was already dropped on Instagram (Click to check out) I went down to the peace bridge to see if I could grab a new angle/feel of this incredible piece of architecture, unfortunately Pokemon Go players were ALL OVER the top and surrounding spots of the bridge areas, there was also wedding photo shoot in there and I was crunched for time, so I went down below the bridge, left the exposure open and composed a panorama, I’ve shot this before but it was in the fall and there was more fog, I really like how the lighting came out from this shot.

Right after that I hopped out from below in my sandals, jammed my toe really good, and caught one more shot before I booked it to the airport.

That’s it for now, if you want to check out more of my pictures of Calgary, see this blog! – or go to the search (top right) and search Calgary, most of my work is also in the newly launched ‘Architecture’ portfolio!
