Calgary Fine Art Photographer Cody James shares a few insights and rules of photography that he follows to capture fine art photography.

One of the best investments I’ve made as a photographer was picking up a AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED macro lens. It’s easily one of my most favorite go to lenses that I own. A macro lens truly opens up a new world of photography for shooters, it’s quite incredible to see the fine details that a macro lens can capture.

With that said, one of the best things about this lens is that simply capturing the smallest and simplest of details can garner incredible results.

Another great aspect to shooting in the macro field is the ability to really fill the frame, you’re able to grasp small fine details like a blade of grass, but have a filled background of beautiful greens with wonderful bokeh.
