Calgary Freelance Photographer Cody James contributes to the 2013 Animal Rescue Foundation calendar working with Paddington to create some action shots in the water!
It’s that wonderful time of the year where I can proudly let everyone know that ARF has released their annual calendar and for the fifth straight go, I was lucky enough to be asked to participate in the making of it! Every year I’m honored to help out such a wonderful organization, if you aren’t familiar with ARF please take the time to learn about them they do amazing work for animals throughout Alberta and have a great program that I first hand have been witness to in seeing some amazing transformations.
For the calendar, ARF holds a vote on their website where they ask viewers to select previous ARF rescues to be featured in their upcoming calendar, once the winners are notified, photographers like myself are contacted to arrange a meeting with the winning pet and their owner. This year I was lucky to receive a cute little guy named Paddington. Here’s his biography:
We named Paddington after Paddington Bear because he looks like a fluffy, cuddly bear. Paddington has enriched our lives, more than words can express. Everyone that meets him, falls instantly in love with him to the point where our dog grooming and doggy daycare staff never want to give him back to us when we show up to pick him up. We have a 4 year old Boston terrier who was quite timid around other dogs, even when she went to doggy daycare, but ever since Paddington entered her life, she has opened up and become an entirely new dog with a lot more confidence. Paddington is always happy and loves nothing more than to cuddle up to you for a nice long petting, and playing with his sister. He loves and gets along with all other dogs and humans. We took him to Jasper last summer and got stopped every five minutes by people wanting to pet our sweet dog. Each person we meet always asks where they can get a dog just like him. We consider ourselves extremely lucky to have Paddington in our lives, even when he walks through the house after playing in muddy puddles outside.
This year we decided to make our shoot location Fish Creek Provincial Park, we were able to find a wicked little hide away spot along the water where Paddington could run free and explore. Here’s some of the shots.
This shot is one I like to capture for the owners who we share all photos with, so they have a nice classic portrait shot of their puppy.
Paddington had a ball in the water that he loved chasing after (unless it went deep) at which point he would force his owners to get their feet wet and grab it for him.
I don’t know which image they chose for the calendar this year, and I had quite a few so I don’t want to spoil too much, so here’s one more shot of Paddington having more fun in the water.
Every year I am given a few copies of the Animal Rescue Foundations calendar, with the recent launch of my new ACY Photography Facebook page which specializes in portraits, wedding photography, engagements, maternity, family shoots, pet portraits, and much more, I am going to give away one copy of the calendar! All you have to do is head over to the ACY Photography page, like ACY and the ARF 2013 Calendar post that I’ll share on there, and you’ll be entered. At the end of November I’ll select one individual who will receive a free copy of the calendar! Also I will be sharing this post on Twitter, if you retweet you’ll also be entered!
For those who can’t wait, want to buy a few as presents (they’re great for stockings) need one for work, or just want to support ARF, please head on over to the ARF site and visit their store to pick one up!
I love being able donate my time and skills to charitable organizations, if you or your charity are in need of a photographer please don`t hesitate to contact me.
